Many moons ago, I was a unix systems administrator. A popular gathering spot at the time was the usenet[0] group alt.sysadmin.recovery (alternatively referred to as the Scary Devil Monastery for reasons best not explained here). A frequent poster, known as hymie, once said the following:

"I'm going to get a new job. I'm going to mow lawns. And when somebody
asks me what I do for a living, I will tell them, 'I mow lawns.' And
whatever question might follow, the answer will most likely be `Yes,'
`No,' or `I mow lawns.' And nobody will ever call me at 3:30am with a
lawnmowing emergency."

It was accurate twenty years ago, and it's accurate now. It's often easier than explaining how information security in an enterprise works.
Hi, I'm Chris. If you're visiting this site, chances are, we met at a conference or some other event. Thanks for visiting.

This is a place for me to ramble about information security. By trade, I'm an oil and gas IT professional. Sometimes, I get to do some infosec work. The terms and conditions of my employment prevent me from publishing lots of the things that I work with on a regular basis, so I don't. This blog is intended to handle the overflow.

I update this blog super infrequently, so the use of an RSS reader may be your best bet.
If you find the stuff that you read here interesting, let me know. I'm always happy to talk shop.
